In my blog post, The Ultimate Guide to Vegetarian & Pescatarian Dining in Lanzarote, I am covering vegetarian (pescatarian) dining in Lanzarote.
The island’s culinary tradition is deeply connected to its history, and vegetarian cooking plays a significant role.
Local dishes often rely on the abundance of vegetables grown in Lanzarote’s rich volcanic soil. Imagine tasting the smooth richness of mojo sauces or the earthy sweetness of gofio, all without a hint of meat.
Local Farms are an important part of the vegetarian movement in Lanzarote, supplying everything from aromatic herbs to tasty tomatoes.
Visiting these farms can give you a behind-the-scenes look at where your meal’s story begins.
Later on, I am providing you with some examples of such a farm, but there is much more to come.
You see, as I have been told, vegetarianism in Lanzarote isn’t just a trend, it’s a celebration of the island’s identity, blending old traditions with new, innovative culinary techniques.
Whether you’re a devoted vegetarian or just looking to try something new, Lanzarote serves up a plateful of surprises that honor both the land and its history.
Moreover, there are some unique concepts like bodegas and teleclubs, where not only do you taste delicious food, but you’ll have a chance to gasp real local experience during dining.
Visiting such a teleclub, I finally listened to real mariachi while his compadres played evening cards.
Vegetarian & Pescatarian Dining in Lanzarote: The Restaurants
Firstly, let me show you some of the most traditional places where to eat.
The restaurants.
Across my blog, I try to find the best deals in terms of quality, price, and peaceful atmosphere.
The same is valid for restaurants.
I decided to write about the best restaurant, plus La Graciosa.
So, you have plenty of options to choose when searching for Vegetarian & Pescatarian Dining in Lanzarote.
Best Restaurant in Playa Blanca: Sebastyan’s Greek Gourmet
Even though the Playa Blanca main strip has a lot of tourist traps, luckily, its relatively long cost, offers also good quality food.
Located just above the sea, close to Flamingo Beach, Sebastyan’s offers calm and relaxed sea views, accompanied by delicious Greek food.
The food is slightly fancier, and therefore more pricey than the other on the list, but the taste is worth it.
They have mixed selection of traditional Greek and local dishes.
Think tzatziki, feta and saganaki, or spanakopita mixed with local tapas, like garlic prawns ,salmon or tuna tartare, or octopus as starters.
As main course, they offer salad, fish or pasta.
Salmon, cod, and prawns lead their options. I had a great vegetarian lasagna, which I can 100% recommend.
Insider Tip: If you feel like a bit of Greece while in Canaries, and you don’t mind paying a bit more, this is your place.
Due to its prime location, it can get busy at times, so be sure to reserve on time.
Best Restaurant Offering local Food in Playa Blanca: La Tapita
When in search for real tapas in Playa Blanca, first two years we went disappointed back home.
Except for cheap, low quality, trap we fell into, called Restaurante Típico Español we were reluctant to try another tapas in this highly touristic area.
Just at our third visit 4 years after our first Lanzarote visit, we went again for tapas, and namely, place called La Tapita.
Their tapas is first class. We were fortunate to eat on Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife, this taps belongs to one of the best ones when it comes to tapas.
Fresh, tasty, affordable and located in a prime spot, I hope they will stay in the business for years.
Expect typical tapas such as papas arrugadas, fish croquettes, peppers padron, garlic prawns, Garnaza Canaria (chickpeas stew) But also, less typical, octopus, tuna-egg-potato salad, mussels.
Insider Tip:The place can get busy, so reserved table.
Also, the owner doesn’t speak English well, and if you book your table, do keep your time.
We made her unintentionally frustrated as we were late for our table, as we were in the Spanish mode and didn’t realise they’d care. I felt as a son being late for mothers lunch, but in the end we explained it, and we had wonderful time.
Best Restaurant in Playa Dorada: Restaurante Casale Franco
Located just on the other side of Playa Blanca area, with the views on Playa Dorada, Casale Franco is a place, I am returning each time when on island.
Franco is the owner, together with his wife, who is serving and you can sense their passion for the business.
They cook the pizza in a traditional wooden oven.
By far, the best pizza on the island when it comes to the price and quality.
So, if you are full of patatas bravas, and you fancy pizza, this is the place to be.
Apart from delicious food, the owners are always keen on having a conversation.
So, when you search to connect with locals, this place will give you change for honest connection.
Last time we were offered his home made bread to take with us, and couldn’t refuse.
Best Restaurant in Costa Tequise: La Familia
It is quite hard to pick the best in Costa Teguise because the ones written below are also amazing.
For me, the La Familia wins it because of the service. Even though it is not owned by locals the owner was a Chinese lady ( and I know what is said about Chinese people trying to cook local food) this place is worth visiting.
They offer a variety of tapas, fresh fish, and delicious pizza for a very reasonable price.
Should you be in the area, and you want to try something else, then below are more choices:
-La Bohemia (more of a meat place, yet enough vegetarian options)
-La Taberna Del Mar (amazing sea views next to Playa el Jabillo),
-Taberna el Bocatilo
Best Restaurant in La Graciosa: Casa Enriqueta
This is a hidden gem on the neighboring island of La Graciosa.
Amazingly remote, pristine, and yet beautiful island with the hospitality of the locals on the highest level!
In that spirit, we could dine in Casa Enriqueta.
The menu was only in Spanish, as well as the waiter spoke only Spanish but we didn’t mind.
Quite contrary, this way we could interact on a deeper level.
We had fish soup, flambeed cheese, gofio as a starter, and again vegetarian lasagna as a main dish, and it was delicious.

Best Restaurant in Puerto Del Carmen: Vive Libre
Located at the Playa Del Los Pocilos, Vive Libre is the only place I didn’t visit, but after my research I can definitely recommend this place.
They offer locally grown, or produced ingredients, and the tapas selection is pretty unique.
As well, very affordable and the owners are apparently offering great tips on what to do and where to go in your spare time.
Choices like cod strips in tempura batter, tempura courgettes in sweet and chilly sauce, are pretty unique choices.
Apart from those can find more traditional choices Galician cheese selection, Canarian potatoes with mojo sauce.
They have great selection of beers, are cash only, and closing at 6 pm. So if you plan to visit for dinner, be early.
Vegetarian & Pescatarian Dining in Lanzarote Hidden Local Gems
Exploring Lanzarote’s vegetarian scene doesn’t stop at the well-known spots.
Some of the best food adventures come from the island’s hidden gems, where local favorites create an authentic experience away from the crowds.
What you will find often when in search for where to eat as a vegetarian in Lanzarote are Bodegas.
Don’t get confused, as locals use the same name for wineries too.
That said, La Bodega de Santiago in Yaiza is the perfect place if you are staying in the Playa Blanca area.
The setting is beautiful and authentic in the local village.
Only 15 minutes from Playa Blanca this place serves among others local Octopus, Atlantic Wreckfish, and as side dishes Gofio, or Goat Cheese.
Be aware of higher prices, and not the best service though.
Bodega Uga is located in the same village as Santiago, and it offers similar food options.
Dishes like octopus and squid platter, smoked salmon, or tataki de atun can be accompanied with traditIonal spanish tapas.
This restaurant is open only between 1-6 pm.
Its only 10 minutes car drive away from Playa Blanca, and has an amazing local vibe.
Furthermore ,there is also a smokery in the same village , local grocery store where smoked fish and cheese are sold.
So, if you feel like a unique local experience, you can stop by here on the way to La Geria wine region.
Lastly, If you decide to stop there, make sure you order the fish or cheese in advance.
Teleclubs
Traditionally these centres were social centres where years gone by, people used to go to watch the TV if they didn’t have one in the house.
The main reason that you may find them interesting is because they have a great reputation for offering affordable and great quality traditional dishes.
What could be the better place to discover the local social life and food?
We have been in Teleclub Mozaga. It is in the middle of the way from Orzola port to Playa Blanca.
In short, it was the best local experience we had.
The food was super affordable and yet super delicious. I had tuna salad, and a selection of cheeses and I WAS FULL.

What we loved especially, was the local vibe.
People sitting on the porch loudly discussing the hottest topics of today. Next to them, a group of elderly playing card games, accompanied by local music played on guitar.
I felt like the time had stopped here.
Apart from the vibe, teleclubs are known for their outstanding service.
So In short, forget business, here it is all about the experience.
Waiters easy to talk to, owners happy to share their local food, and customers returning regularly, what better proof for an unforgettable experience?
See the map for better orientation.
There are in total 14 amazing teleclub food experiences across the island.
If you are searching for where to eat as a vegetarian or a pescatarian in Lanzarote, pick one of them depending on your location.

This is the best local food experience you can have. In terms of quality, service and price.
Beyond Vegetarian & Pescatarian Dining in Lanzarote: Food Festivals and Wineries
Lanzarote offers more than just dining when it comes to experiencing vegetarian culture.
The island hosts several food festivals throughout the year. These events celebrate local produce and vegetarian dishes, letting you sample a wide array of culinary creations.
Food festivals: Saborelanzarote in November Each Year
Another way to enjoy some amazing fish, pasta, or cheese is to combine it with wine. As you probably know, Lanzarote, especially in the area of La Geria has some amazing wines.
First and foremost, the place where the wineries are is unique and nothing like you have ever seen.
Think Lava Island and maybe the surface of a moon.
In case you don’t drink alcohol, there are also non-alcoholic wines, beers, or other beverages.

Wine Tours: El Grifo Wine Tour
I hope you enjoyed reading my Ultimate Vegetarian & Pescatarian Dining in Lanzarote.
Let me know if you tried one of them, or if you found something worth of visiting, elsewhere on the island.
