When people ask me about vegetarian restaurants in Fuerteventura, they usually expect a short answer. It’s a meat and fish place, not a vegetarian food destination, or so the assumption goes.
I thought the same thing before my first visit in 2022, when I was vegetarian and largely gave up on eating well, defaulting to supermarket meals and whatever happened to be on a menu.
Three years later, returning as a pescatarian with more time and more curiosity, I discovered something nobody in any travel guide had told me.
Puerto del Rosario has some of the most genuinely interesting food on the island.
Venezuelan arepas(eaten first time in my life), cod in paprika, best tapas that I still think about, or a tiny local café near the bus stop that served the best fish of the day I had all trip. I cover it all in my guide.
This guide covers where to eat vegetarian and pescatarian across Fuerteventura, with honest detail on what I actually ordered, what it cost, and what I’d skip.
Puerto Del Rosario the best place to eat without meat on Fuerteventura
Hence down ,when people think about vegetarian restaurants in Fuerteventura, they don’t think about the island’s capital as their first choice.
That’s the reason why you should go there.
As the tourist numbers are low here, the city restaurants focus on residents, hence the food must be good.
The culinary scene of the city has a multicultural texture. For anyone eating without meat, that makes it the most practical base on the island.
I hope you have an idea of what I mean, and now let’s talk about some practical options now.
Patacon Lanero and Arepas Llarenas
Venezuelan Burgers type food. Firstly, those two places are on the same street, so it can be very confusing. I think many people search Arepas because of its name, but having eaten in both of them, I slightly preferred Patacon.

The service was very personal and outstanding, the food super fresh, and the atmosphere very intimate.
We spoke to the owner, who was from Venezuela directly, and you could really sense his passion and dedication of bringing his national food to Europe.
Arepas offer a slightly different experience, as the place is bigger.
Meaning more employees, more customers, also more food options. Simultaneously, less intimacy. But they have Venezuelan beer, so it’s a nice addition to their arepas.
Honestly, you will love both of the places.
Dishes to try:
Arepas (banana based burgers, I know it sounds strange, but you have to try it, delicious, its left on the picture), Yuca Frita (latin American french fries, but this is much more filling, nutty taste, choose it as a starter and combine with one arepas and you are full, left on the picture).

Muelle Viejo
Translated it means old port!
The location corresponds with this translation, as it’s just across the main port in Puerto del Rosario. Very authentic, but also a bit noisier thanks to the main road, just outside of the restaurant.
While it’s not disturbing, just don’t expect a quiet romantic dinner here.
What about the food?
Local Paradise!
There aren’t better words I can think of describing this place.
I have tried cod in pepper. This dish is something I keep telling my friends all the time.
Whenever they ask recommendation on the best vegetarian restaurants in Fuerteventura.
The fish was so soft, pepper sauce perfectly balanced being not too sweet, but also not too piquant.
Simply delicious.
Next to it, we tried other local fishes, and more traditional tapas.
Cheeses, papas, prawns. All super tasty.
Tip:As we came at 20.30 and got the last available table on Thursday night ,be sure to come earlier to get nice table, or call to make a reservation.
Ciao Mare and Restaurante la Chica del Pomodoro
The first one is a pizza place.
Even though there are some great pizza places all around the island, I have to say Ciao Mare is probably the best one.
Super authentic dough (chef is from Italy), taste, and some unique options make this place worth visiting.
After our visit, I have to add exceptional service (we got a homemade free starter as a welcome), affordable price and unexpected sea view.
Second restaurant is a bit hidden.
While slightly more expensive, and meat is the leading ingredient, I ate amazing Sicilian pasta (tasted better than in Sicily, I can compare it). So that’s why it earned its place for my recommendations. If you would like to treat yourself with tasty pasta and delicious wine on sightly higher price range, this is your place.

Bar Cafeteria Nicol
This is the last place in Puerto del Rosario where you have to eat, while searching for vegetarian restaurants in Fuerteventura.
Local. Tasty. Affordable.
Located just outside of the main bus station in Puerto del Rosario, this is the perfect spot if you are transiting to Corralejo, El Cotillo or south and you have not rented a car. (links locations and car rental)
They change their menu everyday, speak little English (I like this, as it really adds the authenticity vibe), Their opening hours do not always match the Google ones(as many places in Fuerteventura).
They are Closed on Mondays, call on any other day, if you want to be sure they still cook, sometimes they are open, but the kitchen is not open yet, or already closed.
Dishes I would recommend, sea food paella (hands down, the best Paella I eaten when it comes to the taste, price and size) , fish of the day( served with salad or papas) and any other local dish served on the day you are in.
Eating Vegetarian and Pescatarian in Corralejo
Corralejo is as you might guess international, with lot of options, but also less of a quality and higher price when it comes to vegetarian restaurants in Fuerteventura.
Even though, it’s way way better then in the main resorts in Lanzarote, such as Playa Blanca or Costa Tequise.
With that in mind you still need to know where to go to find tasty, affordable and meat free places.
My best recommendation is
Hamburgueseria Single Fin
Located in the centre of Corralejo, next to the sea, this restaurant serves super huge, juicy, and tasty burgers.
In addition to standard vegetarian burgers, they have some options I have never seen before, such as an artichoke burger.
Burgers come accompanied with homemade French fries. They have a majority of meat burgers, but I found the vegetarian options sufficient enough, mainly because they’re just super tasty!
For beer lovers, they offer a wide selection of craft beers.
Additionally, if you’re in Fuerteventura because you work remotely, in the Twinky bar that belongs to the same building. This is owned by the same owner, and there’s a meet up of remote workers happening every Thursday!

Some other restaurants worth to visit:
Cesar Pizza -second best on the island pizza after Ciao Mare, great IPA beer too
Restaurante Mamacita -owned by Italian couple who do the food with love, attention and hospitality only italians can do, they have great homemade pasta and affordable price, be sure to make a reservation before coming, it’s almost always full
Vegetarian Restaurants in Fuerteventura: El Cotillo and northern villages
Even though El Cotillo is much smaller than Corralejo or Puerto Del Rosario, there’s something about this place that makes me always come back.
Not only is this place a tranquil oasis in the north of Fuerteventura with a combination of amazingly wild and also calm beaches, there’re some restaurants worth a visit.
Restaurante Acorralado
I am risking of being surprising to some locals reading this, but for me this is the best tapas place in the northern part of the island.
Two things that support my statement.
Firstly, the fact that there are people who are driving all the way from Corralejo to have tapas here.
Secondly, the big queues in front of the restaurant.
They do not take reservations though! So you really need to come and make the wait!
Trust me, it will be worth it.
There are sitting options outside, just next to the biggest square in El Cotillo, and some small tables inside.
Sitting outside is nice, as sometimes there are intimate concerts happening on the little stage next to the restaurant.
As the food goes, they offer lots of tapas options.
Authentic, not English speaking service, and very affordable prices for the quality they provide.
In addition to the standard menu, they also have special promotions where you can get 5 tapas and you get a bottle of wine for 20€.
What is more important though is the quality.
What I’d recommend is tuna tapas(they give you tiny tuna steak), spinach croquettes and octopus.
Tip: If you visit on Friday, there is a local market happening from 9-10 pm just on the same square. Nice way to combine beach day, local culture and tasty food!
Mi dolce hogar
This is the best place for bocadillo in the northern Fuerteventura!
If you don’t know it, bocadillo is a baguette bread with different fillings and it’s famous in Spain.
Big selection of bread, freshness of the fillings and the price, make this a must visit when in northern Fierteventura.
Located in the quiet village of Villaverde, next to the main road across Padel field, you must visit it.
I always go for avocado shrimp combination, and it is just delicious.

Tip: If you go for bocadillo, take the big one, they offer 3 sizes. Also, they are open only until 3 pm. So no dinner here.
Leo’s Pizza
When I ate there, while in El Cotillo, I immediately felt a similar taste as in Italy, hence real Italian pizza in Fuerteventura.
The restaurant is also nicely located overlooking the quiet Los Lagos beach. This gives you you the opportunity to eat and enjoy the sunset at the same time.
Other options I would recommend:
Happy Cactus-probably the only one 100% vegan place in northern Fuerteventura (after Baobab restaurant in Corralejo closed its doors)
Very friendly service, big and tasty burgers, located close to Leo’s pizza. Something to consider is a slightly higher price and limited seating options.

Restaurante Marea Alta-super tasty local cuisine with French twist. The owner is from Belgium and its French part, but living over 20 years in El Cotillo. Very authentic, stoned made design of the place, and super delicious food. Together with attentive service make this place a super competitive alternative to Acorralado (it is located at the other side of the square). Compared to Acoorolado it is slightly more expensive, and a bit more fancier.
Below are pictures of dishes we tried and can recommend. Tuna Steak, cannelloni pasta and cheese casserole. On the left picture is a guy who look serious, but he actually enjoys the dish and place very much. Just wanted to show you the design of the restaurant.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Fuerteventura: Centre and South of the Island
If you have rented a car, the centre of the island offers some delicious, local and well hidden spots.
Unlike Lanzarote, there aren’t many Teleclubs, which is a shame. There’re still some though.
Teleclubs to try in Fuerteventura: Teleclub El Rincon, Piscolabis (this place changed the owner, and you feel it on taste immediately, unfortunately when operating as Teleclub, it was much better, Teleclub el Moli. (only cash).
Also, the remoteness of the centre of the island offers other, similarly local options.
Casa Matoso
Located just past the village Antigua, this restaurant isn’t officially a Teleclub, but it does remind it a lot.
Mainly, because of the food, atmosphere, and service.
If you have a car, or staying in Puerto del Rosario, and crave some local food at an affordable price, you must visit it.
We had the chickpeas stew (not vegetarian, but my girlfriend loved it), fish soup, local fish, squid, and a selection of local cheese.
With 2 drinks, we paid 45€ for 2 and I can recommend all of it.

Restaurante La Farola del Mar
Located down south in Morro Jable, this is a super delicious place for any kind of seafood.
Upon visiting in 2022, I was vegetarian, so I couldn’t enjoy it there fully, and envied my girlfriend, but in 2025 I made it up as pescatarian.
Located just above one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, the long Playa del Matorral, this place offers an intimate setting for a nice, quiet and romantic dinner.
Reservation recommended and dishes I recommend is simply seafood. Whatever you feel like that day, just go for it.
Fresh fishes directly from the sea and prepared with love and passion are guaranteed.
Self Catering Vegetarian and Pescatarian options in Fuerteventura
Something different when it comes to vegetarian restaurants in Fuerteventura are those take away restaurants. Those aren’t teleclubs, not fast foods, but local eateries serving freshly made food, with super affordable prices.
We encountered those firstly in Gran Canaria, and ever since, fell in love with the concept.
Especially if you are on the road exploring the island, and you don’t want to be tight with eating schedules and time (Spanish dining is often worth one hour or more) these places are your choice!
El Rubio Asadero de Pollos
Even though it translates as Chicken Rotisserie, fortunately they serve fish as well. And super delicious fish. We stopped by on the way to Sotavento beach and had our Boxing Day dinner at the beach. We took octopus salad, fried squid and fresh fish for 10€ per person.
This restaurant is strategically located in Antigua, so almost directly in the centre of the island, which makes it a perfect stop wherever you are heading.
Tip: The restaurant opens only 10-4.30 pm, so take this into consideration of your planning to arrive on time.
Vegetarian Restaurants in Fuerteventura: My Best Choice and What I would do differently
If first time in Fuerteventura, I would:
- Not avoid Corralejo for food. I normally don’t eat in the tourist resorts, but Corralejo is also a local hub, so it does its job in that regard. Moreover, if you are in Corralejo, you are just stone throw away of El Cotillo and Villaverde with amazingly local, fresh and affordable places
- Rent the car to be able to visit the center of the Island for real Fuerteventura food
- Eat fish, so I could enjoy the delicious food scene fully
- Call every place I plan to visit prior to my departure. It happened to me twice that I arrived hungry and was left hungry as the place was closed, even when Google said it was open. After ending in the middle of the island, with next restaurant another half an hour drive away, I earned from my mistakes, so hopefully you can too.
- Carry cash. Some places don’t offer the option to pay with a credit card. So it is the same as above, you don’t want to end up in a remote place, only to figure out where the nearest atm is, as there are not many in such a remote place.
Best recommendation:
There are many restaurants worth 5 star reviews, and all from my blog post will satisfy even the most demanding of you. If I have to choose the best one, I would go for Acorralado.
Its just so authentic. Offers super taste, with really local pricing, and a beautiful setting surrounded by one of the best beaches of the north and in a peaceful oasis El Cotillo.
